Nice views of Jersey, including Rozel Bay where I was raised:

A harbour built to house the oyster fishing fleet. The British army had soldiers stationed in some barracks (now a hotel) to the left and out of picture, and at the Fort on the top right of the pic.
Samuel Curtis a pioneer victorian botanist settled and created a garden here.

The actor Dudley Sutton once lived in the house at the start of the pier.

The late Lady Docker lived within a stones throw of this pic, she was reputed to, and famous for an incident with I think the King of Spain aboard his yacht amongst other things.

St.Aubin's Harbour
Completed in 1700,its raison d'etre was the discovery of Newfoundland and its huge cod stocks.Jersey traders set out to fish there and to bring back their 'salted' cod for sale in Europe. Jersey names are common in the Newfoundland telephone book and at Rencontre, east of the Ramea Islands are two hills named St.Helier and St.Aubin.

St.Aubin's High Street
Walking along the The Bulwarks you can see the granite fronted houses built into the hillside by the cod merchants, smugglers and privateers whose trade-legal and illegal-was responsible for the areas wealth between the 16th and late 19th centuries.
